What are the benefits of applying Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch?

Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch features a Transdermal Drug Delivery System (TDDS), whereby the pain relief medicine is spread across an ultra-thin and highly stretchable piece of cloth with a soft adhesive, that when applied directly to the skin enables medicine to be delivered directly to the site of pain.

The thinness and flexibility of Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch makes them extremely discreet and allows them to be applied to the most common sites of muscular pain.

Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch provides an alternative for pain sufferers, including those who prefer to avoid the use of tablets or capsules available as over the counter pain relief medications. Unlike tablets and capsules, the active ingredients in Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch are absorbed through the skin directly at the site of pain.

How soon should I expect pain relief after applying Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch?

Pain relief generally occurs within one hour of application, but in some individuals pain relief may be shorter or longer.

If pain recurs 8-12 hours after applying the first patch a second patch can be applied. Only use one patch at a time.

How many Salonpas® Pain Relief Patches can I apply at a time?

Apply only 1 patch at a time.

Can I use Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch on an ongoing basis?

Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch temporarily relieves symptomatic pain associated with strains and sprains. If your symptoms persist beyond 3 days, you should stop using and seek medical attention from your doctor.

Can Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch be used with oral pain relief products?

Speak with your doctor or pharmacist regarding this; it is important to read both product labels carefully.

Can I cut Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch?

The patch cannot be cut into pieces because we do not have any data that guarantees the effectiveness when cut into different sizes.

What are the active ingredients in Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch?

Methyl salicylate and levomenthol; both are pain relievers or analgesics. Methyl salicylate is an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug).

What is the shelf-life/expiration date of Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch?

Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch should not be used after the expiry date which is stated on the box, or more than 3 months after the packaging is first opened.

How often can I use Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch per day?

Do not use more than 2 patches per day.

Can I engage in physical activity while wearing Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch?

Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch is ultra-thin, flexible and highly stretchable, which makes them extremely discreet and allows them to be applied to the most common sites of muscular & joint pain. It can not be worn during physical activity because sweating might loosen the patch or the patch may come off. Please seek advice from your doctor before you undertake any strenuous activity if you are experiencing pain.

When should Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch NOT be used?

Do not use Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch:

  • If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients of the medicine.
  • If you suffer with allergic conditions, have a history of allergy or had attacks of asthma, especially when taking other pain killers, medicines to reduce fever and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
  • If you are taking similar pain relieving products as the combination can cause additional side effects, if in doubt ask your pharmacist.
  • If you have had a severe heart condition.
  • If you have severe problems with your kidneys or liver.
  • If you have any bleeding ulcers or bleeding problem.
  • If you are in the third trimester (last 3 months) of pregnancy.
  • On children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • On open wounds, irritated skin, eyes or mucosa.

Can children use Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch?

No, Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch is not indicated for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Please seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist for suitable alternatives.

Can I use Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch if pregnant?

Please seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist before use.

Can I use Salonpas® Pain Relief Patch while breast-feeding?
